Fitting another chain
In this discipline, the participant must dismantle and assemble the cutting apparatus of a ready to use chainsaw. The new chain must be fitted so that the chainsaw is ready to use in the two following disciplines (combined bucking and precision bucking) without any further adjustments to the chainsaw; otherwise, penalty points will be given by taking a certain amount of points away from the total score.
Combined Bucking
From two pre-prepared logs, the participant must cut a disc of wood no thinner than 3 cm and no thicker than 8 cm. This must be done by cutting the first half upwards from beneath the log and the second half from the top. The upper and downward cuts must meet each other, without a step, within the marked zone of the log, for both logs. The judges will evaluate work safety and the quality of the cut. The cut must be within 88.75-91.24 degrees vertically and horizontally, lower and upper cut offset against each other.
Precision Bucking
From two logs, the participant must aim to completely cut off a disc between 3 cm and 8 cm in thickness without damaging the board underneath. The disc must be cut at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the stem. Damaging the board will lead to zero points for the accuracy of the cut. The discipline will be performed while the log is in a thin layer of sawdust that hides where the log contacts the surface of the board. The cut must be within 88.75-91.24 degrees vertically and horizontally. The judges will evaluate work safety, the quality of the cut, and the thickness of the uncut chip.
Tree Felling
The task must be finished within set time limits: 3 minutes for felling, and 90 seconds for simulation. After felling, the work quality is measured by the marks left on the stump and by the deviation from the longitudinal axis, which is set by the contestant him/herself and which is marked by the judge, using markers 15 m away from the tree to be felled.
Limbing
A cylindrically trimmed stem must be limbed, pre-prepared with branch imitations, which are placed on the stem in accordance with a confirmed pattern. Altogether, 30 branches must be cut off. The judges will evaluate the work safety observed, and the quality of the cut: the stumps of the branches must not be higher than 5 mm and the cuts in the stem – deeper than 5 mm. The speed of the performance will earn the participant extra points.
The winner of the competition will be the participant with the highest number of points. If the participants have the same number of points, the result of felling the tree will be decisive when determining the winner. If the results of the felling discipline are the same, the winner is determined by the time of execution of the same discipline.
Forest course
Teams of contestants must race trough forest on a 3-5 km long track, while performing 14 tasks related to forests, forestry, and hunting. For example, determining a growing tree diameter, volume, height, log length. The participants must be able to recognise species of animals by their fur, teeth, or any other trophy part. They also must know trees by their leaves, branches or wood-blocks. All measurements must be done without any specialised tools
